We asked Sharif Shaalan some questions about the book and the whole experience.
Tell us about your book Salesforce for beginners?
This book is for someone who has no experience and wants to learn Salesforce. It is split into three sections (Core CRM, Administration, and Automation). The book is written in a linear fashion and is a great compliment to Trailhead.
What inspired you to start writing your book?
I have been helping many people learn Salesforce. Each time I would send them to Trailhead, but spend many hours with them explaining core concepts. I wanted to put out content that can be used by beginners as sort of a text book that can be used as they learn.
How did you research your book?
From my experience : ). I have been working on the platform hands on for 12 years and have 10 certifications, so I’m very up to speed on anything Salesforce.
How was the writing process?
The process was good. I had 2-3 weeks per chapter. There are content editors and technical reviewers that proof the chapters and give feedback which I can choose to apply if I feel it is needed. Overall I had a great experience.
How long did it take you to finish your book?
It took me about a year with 2-5 hours per week of writing. It was spread out due to my work obligations. I was able to focus a bit more time to it towards the end due to the quarantine.
